Menu for Hope III
Ok everyone, I'm participating in the great fundraising event called a Menu for Hope, in which food bloggers (and now wine bloggers too!) raise money for charity. Last year they raised over $17,000 for UNICEF, this year they are raising money for the United Nations World Food Programme. Here's a quote from Pim at Chez Pim who started this event 3 years ago to raise money for the tsunami victims:
To us Food Bloggers, food is a joy. On our blogs, we celebrate food as a delight or even an indulgence. Unfortunately, for many others who share our world do not share that privilege. For them, food is a matter of survival. This "Menu for Hope" is our small way to help.
All participating food and wine bloggers out there are offering some great prizes in exchange for your donations. A raffle will take place at the end of the donations period and you could win a number of amazing prizes! There are meals at multi-starred restaurants, tours of exotic cities, and many, many bottles of wine, but no one is offering a prize quite like we are here at Domaine de la Gramière! Drum roll please!...
A fun-filled day of
hands-on vineyard work at La Gramière with Amy & Matt!
Locally
grown products will grace the table and all courses will be paired with the
best our local winemakers have to offer. We will taste wines from all
around the southern Rhone, not just La Gramière, and you (the winner) will
be paid for your hard work with 6 bottles of La Gramiere
(Note this prize does not include airfare, transportation or lodging, just a day of good hard work, great food and great wine!) prize number: WB26
Now what could be better than that I ask you?? So go on over to Chez Pim take a look at the many prizes and donate any amount of money you can (in increments of $10 please!). Or go straight to the donation site, since the only prize you really want is this one! You too, could spend a fun-filled day on the farm! Just think how well you'll sleep knowing you contributed to two good causes, the United Nations World Food Programme, AND the next vintage of La Gramière!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You can take a look at all of the other wine-related prizes on Vinography. A special thanks to Alder for taking on the giant task of rounding up all of the wine-blogging prizes.
Here's the rest of the important info:
1. Go to the
donation page at (http://www.firstgiving.com/menuforhopeIII)
2. Make a donation,
each $10 will give you one raffle ticket toward a prize of your
choice. Please specify which prize or prizes you'd like in
the 'Personal Message' section in the donation form when confirming your
donation. Do tell us how many tickets per prize, and please use
the prize code -for example, a donation of $50 can be 2 tickets for UW01 and 3
for UW02.
3. If your company
matches your charity donation, please remember to check the box and fill in the
information so we can claim the corporate
match.
4. Please also check
the box to allow us to see your email address so that we could contact you in
case you win. Your email address will not be shared with
anyone.
5. Check back on
Chez Pim on January 15 when we announce the result of the
raffle. (The drawing will be done
electronically. Our friend, the
code wizard Derrick at Obsession with Food, is responsible for the wicked application that
will do the job.)
I was one of the unlucky fans who did not win the raffle for this prize but like to congratulate EmmaB for this envious opportunity to help out at the winery and the lovely dinner after.
Is your winery open for visits? Love to drop by when we're in the area sometime!
