For several months now there have been rumblings in the French government concerning the application of a nearly twenty year old law aimed at prohibiting wine advertising to internet advertising. They have even go so far as to propose prohibiting any websites that promote or discuss any alcohol. Meaning that French wineries would no longer have the right to have websites or even blogs promoting their wines or their professions. I'm not sure where I would fall in that category, but it would be possible that my blog could become illegal! Brilliant idea don't you think? Alder at Vinography wrote a post about this last week, you can read more about it here.
So today wine producers are protesting all over France, and French wine bloggers are too. Just imagine if we were all shut down!!??? Seems a bit archaic to me. Click the link below to see the future of French winery websites and blog if this law is extended to the internet:
I wish I could be out there protesting with the best of them, but I'll be in the UK for the next several days... shame!

If it happens you can host your blog with me and I'll post about your winery! :) You just send me 'reports' to put up on the web. Then it will be a Spanish wine blog about a French Winery! How would they handle that?

Don't worry, I have no plans of stopping until they come to my house and pull the plug..... but thanks for the offer, I'll keep it in mind!!
